On for Ol’ St. Francis…

Since our celebration in 2008 of the 150th Anniversary of the founding of St. Francis Prep, we have remained committed to the need to plan and provide for The Next 150 Years of Catholic education in the Franciscan Tradition.  With this in mind, the Prep is now launching the second stage of its major capital campaign effort.

This two-stage campaign is a truly extraordinary undertaking—perhaps the most important in the history of the Prep.  Never before have we had such an opportunity to make such a significant and long-lasting positive impact on the lives and futures of generations of our students.  Truly, this will usher in a new day for the school, and we intend to bring every possible resource to bear to meet our objectives and preserve and enhance the St. Francis Prep legacy.  All members of the Prep family—the Franciscan Brothers, the Board of Trustees, administrators, faculty, staff, students, graduates and friends—are dedicating themselves to this important effort.

We need your support, however, if we are to truly succeed.  This campaign provides us with a unique opportunity and a great challenge—one that will require the help and participation of all those who believe in the school’s mission if we are to reach our goal.  Therefore, with your involvement, and with the help and involvement of so many others who share your interest in shaping the future of this fine institution, a successful campaign will help insure another 150 years of great Franciscan tradition as demonstrated at St. Francis Prep.

The total needed to fund the overall long-term project (also known as the school’s "Master Plan”) is expected to be in the $30 million range.  The overall goal of our two-stage campaign is to raise at least $15 million from the Prep’s graduates, parents, friends and other supporters (including corporate and other charitable foundations).  The balance will be financed through one or more borrowing and investment plans authorized by the Board of Trustees.

Thankfully, as a result of the extraordinary generosity of a relatively small group of devoted alumni and their families, over $5 million was committed in the first stage of this effort (The Sesquicentennial Campaign). These funds helped finance Phases I and II of the project "master plan.” We are now involved in Stage Two—The Campaign for St. Francis Prep: The Next 150 with a goal to raise another $10 million that will help offset the cost of the "master plan” Phase III (The Science and Music Complex) and the final Phase IV (which will include the new front entranceway and chapel).
