Congratulations to senior Jessica Ruddy who last week was one of three finalists in the NYC "Poetry Out Loud" National Recitation Competition.  This is quite an accomplishment because Jessica competed against thirty other students from the New York-Metropolitan area.  St. Francis Prep was the only Catholic school with a qualifier in the competition

As a result of her fine performance, Jessica will participate next week in the New York State competition in Albany.  We wish her well.  We also wish to thank English teacher (and SFP alumnus) Eric Hafker, who serves at the moderator of the Prep's literary magazine, The Little Portion for organizing the successful competition on behalf of the SFP English Department.

Again, congratulations to Jessica, Mr. Hafker and the English Department.
