TERRIER ATHLETICS: November 2013 Sports Round-Up

(It was a busy Veterans Weekend) 

From SFP Principal Pat McLaughlin '73: "What great representation of the Prep spirit at all of the events this past weekend!  Special thanks to the student-athletes, coaches, moderators and our Athletic Director,  Sal Fischetti '83, who spent countless practice and game hours during the Fall season!"   He went on to say, "There also was a terrific showing of parent, faculty and alumni support at all the events. Thank you to all of these good people who are doing great things to support and encourage our athletes!"


Girls Volleyball: State Champions  

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Volleyball Team for winning the Brooklyn/Queens City Championship and then going on to win the the New York State Catholic High School Championship against St. Mary's of Lancaster, NY on Saturday, November 9th!


Boys Varsity Soccer: State Finalists 

The boys won their State semi-final game on Saturday, November 9th (1-0) against St. Joesph's from Buffalo.   On Monday, November 11th, they competed for the State Championship but lost to St. Anthony's High School (2-0).  We are very proud of their sportsmanship and achievements nonetheless!

Varsity Football Team: Playoffs 

The Terriers finished the regular season undefeated in the league (8-0).  They lost to Holy Cross 20-13 in the AAA quarterfinals on Saturday night in a very hard-fought game that could have gone either way. There was a terrific crowd and tremendous enthusiasm at Mitchel Field.  Thanks to all who were able to be there! The team will play one final "consolation bracket" playoff game at Monsignor Farrell on Staten Island this Saturday at 1:00 pm. It's been a great season! 

Girls Swimming

The Girls Swimming team competed in the Catholic High School Finals on Sunday, November 10th at The Nassau County Aquatic Center in Eisenhower Park and took 4th Place overall. Congratulations!


Girls JV Cross Country

The Girls finished 3rd in the Intersectional Championships at Van Cortland Park on Saturday, November 9th. Great job!
