Dear Alumni, Faculty, Students and Parents,
In 1980, Sister Joseph Agnes Hohmann asked a number of volunteers to assist some “very precious men and women” at
St. Francis Prep’s Annual Christmas Party for our Friends with Special Needs.  Little did those people realize that she was teaching the true meaning of Christmas: Service to others in the great Franciscan tradition.

Sister Jo passed away in 2005, but the Prep’s alumni and faculty are working together to keep the party alive in her memory.  We have been asked to help raise funds to pay for the party expenses.  We hope you can assist us in making Christmas wishes come true for the 350 guests attending this year's party.

On Saturday, December 15, 2018, between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm the students of St. Francis Prep will open their school and their hearts once more to these disabled men and women from throughout Brooklyn and Queens.  Our annual party continues to include a light breakfast, Mass, lunch, dancing to live music, the SFP orchestra, the SFP dance team performs and a visit from Santa Claus ends the day.  Each guest will receive a Christmas gift and a Christmas favor as they leave.  Many of our guests do not have families, so this party is the only celebration of the holiday that they enjoy.  Our efforts are supported by the Colgate Palmolive Company, JPMorgan Chase, the St. Francis Prep Alumni Association, Father's Guild and Mother's Guild, and nearly 200 Prep student volunteers.  The Italian Club and various other SFP clubs are also involved in our party in a special way. Please feel free to join us at the Party!

If you are able to assist us, please send a check payable to St. Francis Prep c/o Suzanne Camus at 6100 Francis Lewis Boulevard, Fresh Meadows, NY, 11365.  Please feel free to call 718.423.8810 ext. 236 if you have any questions.  You can also e-mail: scamus@sfponline.org. All contributions to the Party are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

We know Sister Joseph Agnes continues to pray for everyone who helps to make this party a success.  We hope you will keep our guests in your prayers and we thank you in advance for any support you can provide.

Best regards,

Suzanne Camus

SFP Alumni have supported this event for more than 30 years.  Founded by Sr. Joseph Agnes, the party provides Christmas cheer to more than 300.

You can celebrate the season as a volunteer or have Santa deliver a gift from you to one of our special guests.

Students serve as volunteer aides throughout the party.

How you can help:

Volunteer!
Assist guest as they enjoy lunch, dance, and visit with Santa

Give!
Drop off an inexpensive wrapped gift at Prep before December 13th.

  • Or, make a special contribution to the Special Needs Party Fund.

    Gifts our guests would love:
    Bath and Beauty items
    Books
Clothing (especially hats, gloves, scarves, slippers and large sizes)
    Costume jewelry
    Decorative items (picture frames, figurines)
    Small radios

Please place a tag on the gift describing the item.  This helps us ensure your gift is appropriate to the recipient’s needs.  For clothing, please mark “men’s” or “women’s” and the size.  The gifts can be left at the General Office to the attention of “Special Needs Christmas Party”
